FPGSPC "Haunt" Test Weekend

Our Club held its very first AKC sanctioned event - a Hunt Test at Little River Farm in Quincy. The weekend was a great success, with many entries receiving qualifying scores and a few finishing titles. We are grateful to all our hard-working judges, and we'd like to thank them: Jean Matmor (and her three horses, thank you Jean), Lisa Durham, and our own Jim Eustace and Todd Knouff. Without your combined knowledge and experience, we wouldn't make the kind of progress in training our dogs that we'd all like to see. Thank you for your time and generosity.

We'd also like to thank all the club members who made the weekend so much fun...providing food, keeping records, planting birds, setting up and decorating, filling water buckets, mowing, and all the little details that make these tests possible. Thanks also to those who entered their dogs and spent time with us this weekend! We even had two junior handlers running dogs, and we hope we're seeing the future of our sport!

It was a beautiful weekend -- the weather cooperated! We held a club meeting on Saturday night while we enjoyed Vern and Betsy Phillip's terrific "Oktoberfest" dinner. Look back here for meeting minutes. I'll also post them on Yahoo (when I get them done!) We welcomed two new members this weekend, Jimmy Daniels and Duke McRaa.

FPGSPC Yahoo Group

Okay. I'm at a loss for what to do with old(er) Club material, such as meeting minutes, by-laws, etc. My thought is that it might be best to create a Yahoo Group..."FPGSPC" where all such material can be stored. I can also post Premiums, the Membership Application, etc., for members and friends of the Club to download. List members can post photos and communicate directly to other members. There will be a one-time approval to join the list, and then you can post freely. Let's give it a try. I know that means that there are two FPGSPC web entities, but I think it may really cover the waterfront in terms of Club communications. I'll send current members (if I have your email address) an invitation to join. Pass on the information as you feel appropriate to anyone else who might be interested in joining the list. I don't think it should be limited to Club members only. What do you think?

October Hunt Test Premium

It is official! The FPGSPC has received approval from the AKC to hold licensed Hunting Tests and Field Trials. So, with no delay, we are doing so! Premiums for our first Hunt Test, to be held at Little River Farm on October 25th and 26th will be emailed to members ASAP. The closing date is October 21st, so act quickly.
